IE - Customize Toolbar From Registry

  • THE Internet Explorer toolbar can be customized using the registry editor. A few simple commands can make some unwanted buttons and commands to disappear from the toolbar.

     

    icon13 Click "Start | Run".
    icon13 Type "regedit" and press [Enter].

    icon13 Navigate to the value:'HKEY_CURRENT_USERS | Software | Microsoft | Windows |CurrentVersion | Policies | Explorer'.
    icon13 Right-click the white space and in the context menu select "New | DWORD value".
    icon13 Name this value as"SpecifyDefaultButtons" and set its value to "1".
    icon13 To hide individual icons from the Internet Explorer toolbar simply create the following DWORD values.
    Once you have created these values,double-click them and enter the"Value" as "2".
    The following are the value names to hide these buttons.
    icon13"Btn_Back" - Hide Back
    icon13"Btn_Forward" - Hide Forward
    icon13"Btn_Stop" - Hide Stop
    icon13"Btn_Refresh" - Hide Refresh
    icon13"Btn_Home" - Hide Home
    icon13"Btn_Search" - Hide Search
    icon13"Btn_History" - Hide History

    icon13  "Btn_Favorites" - Hide Favorites
    icon13"Btn_Folders" - Hide Folders
    icon13  "Btn_Fullscreen" - Hide Full screen
    icon13"Btn_Tools" - Hide Tools
    icon13"Btn_MailNews" - Hide Mail
    icon13"Btn_Size" - Hide size
    icon13"Btn_Print" - Hide Print


    To make the buttons visible again simply double click an appropriate value and set the value to "1". You can also delete the DWORD value as an alternative.
