How to Add More Search Engines in Internet Explorer 8

  • Saturday, January 9, 2010
  • Runtrailblog
  • BY default, Internet Explorer 8 contains a textbox besides the address bar that has ‘Bing” in it. This textbox can be used to search data on the Internet and acts just like a regular search engine. The reason this feature has been added is to create a quicker means of searching data on the Internet, without requiring the user to visit the particular search site. To search a particular term using this search box, simply enter the search text in the textbox. Click the dropdown box near the textbox and select the search engine and click 'OK'. To add more search engines to this list simply follow these steps:-

    • Click the drop-down box near the search textbox that lets you select the search engine of your choice.

    • Click the 'Add to Internet Explorer' button that corresponds to the entry in the list that you would like to add as a search engine.
    • A dialog box will appear on your screen with two checkboxes. Select both the checkboxes and click 'Add'. This will set the selected search engine as default.

To change the settings of the search  provider, click the drop-down box near the search button again and select 'Manage Add-ons'. Select a particular search engine from the list and select the status. For instance, if you have just set 'Google' as the default search engine and wish to change it to Ask.com then click the entry in the list and click 'Set as default'. For added controls and settings you can right-click the name of the search engine and change settings such as sorting it, copying it or removing it from the list altogether.

    Efficient Password Manager1.55

  • Friday, January 8, 2010
  • Runtrailblog
  • Still be worrying about so many passwords to remember?.Remembering passwords can lead to a lot of confusion and implementing a single password for all your accounts is definitely not a sensible idea. That’s the main reason why password managers are created.
Not only are they capable of storing innumerable passwords but also provide a secure environment that keep prying eyes from getting hold of valuable information.

    efficientpassmngr
The program installs without too many  pop up questions being asked after which you will be prompted to enter a password to access the database. The main password is encrypted by an SHA algorithm while the password itself is encrypted by a 256-bit AES (Advanced Encryption Standard) algorithm, which is considered to have the highest encryption strength.      The program has a very neat interface and won’t need you to rack your brains in  using it. You have four self explanatory fields such as Passwords, Software
Registration Codes, Email Account and FTP  accounts which are clubbed together under
one head called “Password Manager”. Each  field has its own shortcut key assigned, so one need not keep dragging the mouse along to specify the group that needs to be added. Subgroups can also be added to  the four fields to make things look a little presentable and searchable. A favorite URL button on the navigation panel allows you to manage user names and login passwords to various web sites.
